We were invited by Network World magazine, the conference host.
Vendors were on mark! They have product worthy of client consideration.

IT ROADMAP BOSTON HIGHLIGHTS, from a digitalPlumber's perspective

WIRE CABLE MANAGMENT backup power VENDORS had some nice new things.
TOP DOG Technology panel surveyers were cool...
Juniper Networks came out with impressive BIG TIME net switch force

..saw so much. I was impressed by Cambridge/NH area firms too.
Vendors, if don't see a mention on the bullet list below,
don't despair because we did get your emails and we will advise
our clients about your products too, as the need arises.

Yes, there were a lot of vendors. Boston is blessed with many
good vendors who operate from local offices. Glad we met you all.

Observations:
  • MAZU Networks offered tools for net management and change. Nice!
  • XIRRUS impressed us with their enterprise class WIFI router products
  • MERU offered a good white paper on WIFI centralization w/reference list
  • CA demoed a solution for multi-vendor network management
  • Verizon worked a booth with CISCO. Saw fine VOIP stuff!
  • 3COM made a good impression with affordable VOIP products
  • MIMOSA Systems's "Dummies Guide to E-mail Archiving" is a good one
  • SOPHOS offered security and control software features. Impressive!

  • The WEB 2.0 Collaboration Presentation and
overview given by the Boston Celtics Chief Technology Officer,
along with noteworthy others on the stage, was impressive.
The Celtics IT organization showed us how they use the BlackBerry phone
in some amazing ways for video (while the Apple iPhone was undergoing tests).
Yep, learned how important video content is to Dannie Ainge. Didn't know
he carries more than one phone! And the chat about the wifi hit at the
winning Celtics game, when 400 reporters got on that network was informative. Thanks!

After the WEB 2.0 Collab meeting, we met with the CEO of a firm
specializing in "remote on location wifi solutions." He told
me about a project where he wified a desert location to help producers
film a Hollywood level big budget movie:Cameras all wireless. Great, it worked!
And there are cost effective solutions we know about for every need. So, KUDOS to Network World Magazine for IT ROADMAP Boston!
